I Got to Be with You
by Bob Farley
2015
VERSE 1
I got to know how you feel I got to know what you want
I got to see what you've been through
All that you will and you won't
I got to know how to feel everything that you need
And the way that it turns on the things that you do
...I got to be with you

VERSE 2
How many times did I say
I love you with all of my heart
How many promises did we make
How many dreams fell apart
I got to know how to feel everything that you need
And the way that it turns on the things that you do
...I got to be with you

BRIDGE
I got to be with you
When you were happy, when you were blue
I got to hold your hand, started to understand
To add two and two
I got to see you stay Was there when you went away
And all I knew
...Was I got to be with you

VERSE 3
I got to take you home
I got to ride with you
Everywhere you'd roam and every place
You'd wander through
Every room and every hallway I got to know
What you'd never and always do
...I got to be with you

==================

I took the effort to strip to the bare essentials to the extreme on this song, a bit of a triple entendre in which it's hard to tell if what's going on is a good thing or a bad thing. I think I leave it to the listener's discretion and feelings.

This was an early morning breakfast table song that I wrote and sang the first two verses and the chorus between cups of coffee. After a few listens to that, It took about an hour to decide on a slightly different chorus (really the end of the verse) for the third verse and the repetition of the first verse an octave higher for the end.

However, as quickly as that went, it took a couple of days to decide that the original super simple chords were the best ones for the tune. It was hard to keep it simple, mostly one vocal, and I did let some extra computer strings sneak into the instrumental break, enough to take the mood slightly higher before bringing it back to earth for the final verse.
